A bold target set by Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi to divert 60% of the province’s procurement budget to township businesses is set to fail because of a deep misalignment between what the government needs and what existing township businesses can supply.

Does the entire budget go to fried chicken?

Atleast he tried, and the township people got exposure. So in the future it is possible that the township may be checked in what they can offer. Even if it i a meal on a hsrdworking day around the corner

Another pipe-dream by Mr Lesufi!

Anyone seem the Jhb mayor lately.

Politicking at its best.

When people who think they are clever are not as clever as they think they are, and even try to play 'god' with peoples lives. Ag shame. Be humbled and be gratefull. . . . . .or not.

🤣🤣

The man is a clueless populist …. unfortunately.

Bullshit... There're plenting of businesses at the townships, from engineering all the way to media and prints... a lot can come out of the townships, we shouldn't just judge...

That’s never stopped Lesufi

Which cadres must now get a turn to loot and eat?

So Panyaza wants GP to procure 60% of goods and services from townships? Dream on, Sir!

And what about the cadres eating habits. For every grant a cadre needs to benefit

Imagine, they invest nothing into the townships and now the townships can't supply..😭😭

Imposing self on the township economies will, in essence, be a big failure.

He will proceed with his plan, because the total picture of the plan is not entirely intended for the end-user, Every concoction has parallel stream of beneficiaries, the unofficial stream being the primary intended beneficiary/ies to the package.Hospitals corruption is my source.

We need to seriously consider the qualifications of our public representatives, and if not up to the task at hand, vote them out! It cannot be that we move from one empty promise to another, while our world around us crumbles. Vote MYANC out in 2024! SA needs a new start!

Connected people who always grease hands with township addresses on cipc 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Who is actually going to benefit?🤔 Connected comrades and illegal foreigners that own Spaza shops?🤔

Just make sure you guarantee proper skills and expertise as well as quality controls are in place.

Think: township businesses are not just spaza shops. CIPC has records, every government department & SOE has databases of suppliers/vendors. SA townships survive and thrive off their business skills & innovation despite lenyatso levelled against them

Government procurement includes: training, legal, printing, supplies, maintenance of infrastructure, transportation, just to name a few. Township businesses perform all these already but are excluded by corruption. What misalignment is being referred to here?

Is true is going to fail

What do they want that is not available

👀👀👀👀👀yes is going to fail because township businesses are not owned by South Africans, are owned by asylum seekers, of foreign country...who are not here to develop our economy but to destroy it by taking our money out of the country ..which lead to greylisting
