The Special Investigating Unit said theft and money laundering at the National Lotteries Commission amounted to R1.4 billion.

CAPE TOWN - The Special Investigating Unit on Tuesday said theft and money laundering at the National Lotteries Commission amounted to R1.4 billion.

The SIU said it was expected to hand over a first report, related to the theft of R273 million meant for the country's most vulnerable to President Cyril Ramaphosa by the end of October. That's because of a well-oiled syndicate of colluding former board members, officials, and non-profit organisations, who siphoned off grants for self-enrichment.

“The investigation has identified the methods through which these corrupt individuals used to siphon money - the so-called modus operandi. Misuse of proactive funding provisions in the NLC Act and we have indicated that process needs to be reviewed,” said Mothibi.

cab_delivery Who's surprised?

Lotto funds had been stolen before it's nothing new, the cases evaporated into thin air 😡

What happened to this one, surely nothing happened as it was the tenure when corruption was normalised, during the 9 wasted years 😡

Motho o utswetša go reka koloi.... Arrest the thieves.

lavitosoul Isn’t it time we have a debate whether we need white executives to run SOEs or government for the state money to do what’s intended to do, and efficiently!!! That way, are we not handing back power to white rule. De Ruyter is being sabotaged at Eskom every day, why!!!

And the theft of the National Skills fund and apparently also the fund for the “plasteeeks” we pay for at tills….. everyday another revelation in SA

Is there absolutely nothing the people in power can keep their hands from?

Is that Private jet included in that?

And what are they gonna about it and when?

Thats why when the lotto is like on R89m today ,the next draw it goes up by a few million yet millions of people try their luck but the pool still goes up slightly .These rogues are in every nook and cranny in this country .How do we get rid?

so who has been arrested?

Bophani zonke lezinto.

FFS...I am SO sick to death of hearing about Corrupt Comrades stealing billions🙄🙄🙄. And not one of them in jail!!!!! SiU is useless, never get any results!!

You can never find honorable people these days. Money he blinded alot of people. They act as if this life will be ever lasting.

As expected! Now jail the perpetrators!!!

They stole more than you’ll ever win. ⛹🏾‍♂️ Looks like it’s better to work for lotto rather than to play the lotto.
