Protests rocked Thornville, about 16km south of Pietermaritzburg, on Monday.
"It started at about 05:00 and about 200 protesters blocked the road with burning tyres," police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbhele told News24."There have been no arrests and we advise motorists to use alternative routes." The cause of the protest is unclear and Mbhele said that aside from the burning blockades, the protests were peaceful.Google Maps data also showed very slow-moving traffic in the area. The ANC garnered 72.24% of the vote in the area, followed by the EFF at 10.47%.
Duncan025 Why cant they take their protest to ANC head office, just wondering
Duncan025 And who did they vote for, let me guess. The myanc. We are doomed if the people elect a party to govern and the very next day they protest, burn, loot and disrupt everything in sight because the party they voted for are a bunch of criminals and they knew it before voting
Duncan025 These donkeys had an opportunity to remove the people who were not delivering services, but they opted to vote for the same people. Eish, really you can't reach a donkey.
Duncan025 Shoot them with live ammunition.
Duncan025 Arrg Voetsek maan! You bloody idiots voted for the same government, you're protesting against.
Duncan025 Here we go again.
Duncan025 this is still going on
Duncan025 Back to normal for ANC supporters 😩
Duncan025 You get a chance to vote for what's rightfully yours and you decide to vote the same people who didn't deliver services to you and after you go toitoi n say you not helped. Hypocrisy at it's best.
Duncan025 Stop calling it a protest! It is not a protest, it is criminals disrupting traffic and they should be sprayed with teargas, arrested and put in jail!
