Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp made two changes from the midweek win over Villarreal, as Jordan Henderson came in for Naby Keita in midfield while Luis Diaz also replaced Diogo Jota on the left-wing.

The hosts had the first attack of the evening as Trent Alexander-Arnold delivered a cross to the back post with Andy Robertson nodding it back across, but Sadio Mane couldn't get enough contact on his acrobatic effort and Tottenham cleared. Hugo Lloris made a vital stop to deny Mohamed Salah at the back post after Ryan Sessegnon inexplicably headed across the face of his own goal.

The visitors almost doubled their lead soon after when Emmerson Royal swung a cross to the back post and again Sessegnon pulled it back to Son, who this time couldn't get his feet sorted out in time and it went into the side-netting.
