In a notice late on Tuesday, the department said there is currently no evidence that pet animals can be a source of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, and owners should not abandon their pets. The World Health Organization also states on their website that there is no evidence that a dog, cat or any pet can transmit COVID-19.
The cat is the third animal to test positive in Hong Kong, following earlier cases in which two dogs tested weak positive or positive during repeated tests for the virus.Authorities said the cat will continue to be monitored and examined.Samples collected from the cat’s mouth, nose and rectum tested positive for the virus after it was sent to quarantine on March 30.
There has only been one other reported case of coronaviru sin a cat, in Belgium, which is believed to have become infected from its owner, according to a statement from the Hong Kong Veterinary Association. The Veterinary Association said the most likely way pets would be exposed to the virus is from their owners or other people they come into contact with, and the cases were no cause for alarm.
Thank you for letting us know. Getting well soon kitty's WTF...we wont survive this thing..ibulala kwasani ngisho ne nja🙄🙄🙄 Soooo pets are contacts too? They gonna blame the poor animals soon... All pets must be tested this is bad Now i believe it's 5G Corona virus is a family of different virus strains. Animals can have Corona virus but not necessarily the same strain that causes Covid-19. The strain that causes Covid-19 is called. SARS-co2 according one expert intervied on CNN.
How do we know where the virus comes from? Is it possible that the owner got affected from the cat and not the other way around? And how much research was done on whether or not animals can transmit the virus to humans? If we are to survive this it'll be a miracle. If this was supposed to be an April fools joke it was in poor taste. Remember, pets were thrown from balconies in China after rumours spread of pet to human transfers (which was untrue at time)
And they like rubbing themselves on people. 🤧 Go boima mose le diphohofolo. The world is coming to an end. I don't believe anything that I read on first of April April fools Ebann gane ddnt WHO say no April fool jokes regarding Covid 19? 😢😢😬 From today I don't wanna see cat Wait pets don't contract the virus what? 😩😩
