Outrage after accused who allegedly stabbed woman to death gets R1 500 bail

Family, loved ones and members of the Hanover Park CPF assembled at the station with placards expressing outrage after the accused in the murder of Theresa van Wyk, 30, had been granted bail of R1 500 the previous day.

“She apparently accused Theresa of sleeping with her boyfriend. But although there was no relationship between , she stabbed Theresa in the back, neck and chest.”Van Wyk said the murder accused had been let out on R500 bail, although she had previous convictions. Hanover Park CPF member Yaseen Johaar said they requested a meeting with Philippi’s station commander but were not welcomed with open arms. The meeting was to allow those gathered an opportunity to express their grievances related to the handling of the case, as well as others.
