The trial has caused some controversy as the presiding judge is allowing only those who are vaccinated to be part of the proceedings.The fraud and money-laundering charges against Mabuyakhulu and 15 co-accused relate to the 2012 North Sea Jazz festival, which never took place. The KZN provincial government allegedly paid R28-million for the event during Mabuyakhulu's tenure as economic development MEC.
