That's the view of an ANC NEC member in view of the several municipalities in the country governed through coalitions, while some political parties have also been holding talks about working together ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The DA and five other opposition parties including the IFP, Freedom Front Plus and ActionSA have been discussion a 'mooshot pact' aimed at unseating the ANC.The ANC's Thembi Nkadimeng commented on these arrangements during a briefing in Boksburg, Gauteng, where the ruling party's NEC has been meeting this weekend.

"We may not understand the system, particularly at local government level. It is a multi-party governing system. "If you look at the signing of powers and the calculation of proportional representation at local government is to ensure that even if you got ten votes, it must afford you a voice because a few people choose you."

But Nkadimeng bemoaned the constant motions of no confidence in councils, saying they are causing instability.
