Salga — an autonomous association covering all 257 South African local governments —  has been caught up in protracted salary and wage negotiations with the South African Municipal Workers Union and Independent Municipal & Allied Trade Union since March.

According to the collective agreement for the current financial year, all municipal employees will receive a 3.5% increase effective from 1 July this year. The remuneration of municipal employees will be adjusted every year with a once-off non-pensionable cash allowance for: headtopics.com

Salga said the deal meant that there would be stability in the sector, with no need for year-on-year wage negotiations. “The multi-three year collective agreement will enable municipalities to budget accurately in the medium term budgeting process,” the association said in a statement.

“Municipal employees will dedicate their full attention to rendering accelerated service delivery and the local government can also focus on preparing for the fifth democratic local government elections and the transition without any interruptions.”

ANALYSIS: South Africa must object: Public Protector is wasting state funds with hopeless legal appealsIt took just two sentences for the Supreme Court of Appeal to dismiss Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s application to appeal against the overturning of her report on the decision to grant early retirement to SARS official Ivan Pillay. This is the latest in a series of court smackdowns for the Public Protector which are becoming too numerous to count – and too expensive to tally. Marriages of inconvenience: the fraught politics of coalitions in South Africa - The Mail & GuardianThe Democratic Alliance, the official opposition, shows no sign of benefiting from the ANC’s slack – hardly reaching even 30% of the votes cast. Instead, the ANC’s numbers have been absorbed by small, mostly new parties. Abolishing Shirk and its practices is the only way to Allah SWT’s rehma. Prophet Muhammad SAW also warned us of Shirk and its forms 1400 years ago. Muhammad Qasim has seen this as a warning to the Muslim ummah in his dreams. More at -
