He said this would be done to keep people entertained and to showcase the work of the creatives and promote local content across all arts genres. Some creatives who did not want to be named told City Press that it was clear from his speech that the people who would benefit from the relief programme were those who had the department’s involvement.

Filmmaker Mmabatho Montsho hinted on Twitter: “The minister came to tell us that there are no plans to make plans, but no real plans yet, it sounded like minutes from a brainstorm session.” The Young Emerging Producers saving will also release R4.5 million for the current fiscal year, which will be used as part of the relief programme.

Waste of money

Looting while they can, im sure.

Gosh those who are connected will benefit from this. Criminals portraying themselves as artists

no info as yet on how artists and professionals can access grants. Media pls make the minister accountable. 15 events only have been acknowledged as cancellations. Our artists have experienced over 50! In our network there are hundreds. Who are those 15 events and why ?

Best the ANC don't EVER tell us there's not enough money for masks, or ventilators, or nurses' overtime. EVER 🤬

This is great plan as long as it won’t benefit the same people and all the provinces will be considered

Hoping for the best

Already looted
