Mpumalanga ANC meets to discuss hung municipalities | Citypress

As it stands, the ANC will, for the first time in the history of the province, co-govern three municipalities after it failed to reach 50% of the votes. The affected municipalities are Steve Tshwete in Middelburg where the party had 36.8%, Lekwa in Standerton and Govan Mbeki in Secunda .

The Lekwa and Govan Mbeki councils have been riddled with ANC factional infighting, which has rendered them almost dysfunctional, failing to deliver services to the public.In Lekwa, a new force in the Lekwa Community Forum surpassed the DA and EFF to be the second most voted for party in that municipal area, with 19% of the vote against the ANC’s 42%.
