Limpopo-born Denetric Malope has been plucked from obscurity to become one of the most sought-after male models on the global market.

In the past six months since departing SA, the 22-year-old model has booked major Italian luxury brands Prada as well as Dolce & Gabbana.Perhaps when Frank Ocean jotted down the lyrics to his songBut despite his newfound fame, rubbing shoulders with designers like Raf Simons, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Malope remains delightful, accessible and polite.

But Mzansi came to a standstill when he walked in Venice for the much-publicised Dolce & Gabbana Alta Sartoria show in late August. Vin Diesel, Kris Jenner and Helen Mirren watched as he strutted his stuff on the runway. Not even an unexpected hailstorm that descended during the show could dim Malope’s shine.“Walking for Prada and shooting a campaign that is one thing I will never forget because it was the biggest thing to happen to me,” Malope says.

“I was raised in a loving and respectful family. I was raised in the warmest way possible and given the opportunity to be who I am and do what I love to do,” Malope says. Malope studied fashion design at Tshwane University of Technology. In 2019, while attending an African Fashion International event in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, he was scouted.

But but corruption is hindering our children from all this progressiveness! makeeducationfun The urban ones I think are pretty good. Problem is those in rural schools. There hardly is any meaningful incentive for them. Teachers went through a mental paralyzing system that keeps churning out unemployable youth with no skills to be sustainable on their own. What a useless schooling system we have. We need the HCE system, which will see 19 yo specialists in tradeable skills.
