A Cape Town woman is raising awareness about the challenges deaf people are facing during lockdown

The National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities is calling for help for those left in the dark.The National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities says it's not just masks that have been a challenge for the deaf community.

"We had many enquiries from people who were depressed, who felt isolated, people who were totally uninformed about many issues related to COVID-19," said the council's Fanie du Toit. "And because the media wasn't accessible to people with hearing loss, it had a big emotional impact on many people's lives."
