Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi has issued a message to the public after he recently contracted Covid-19, forcing him to miss his side's last two matches.

The Argentinian has endured a difficult debut season so far in France, after leaving Barcelona as a free agent in August last year. With just one Ligue 1 goal to his name at this stage, Messi has struggled to find the consistent form that fans have come to expect from him over the past decade.

Matters did not get any easier when, while on holiday in his native Argentine, he fell ill after contracting Covid-19. This has led to the 34-year-old missing PSG's last two games, with the forward now issuing a message to his fans on Instagram to reveal he has taken longer to cover than he believed he would.

With just one Ligue 1 goal to his name at this stage, Messi has struggled to find the consistent form that fans have come to expect from him over the past decade.  Matters did not get any easier when, while on holiday in his native Argentine, he fell ill after contracting Covid-19. With many questions raised about his struggles, Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo seemingly agrees that it has been a tough adjustment for not just the Argentine superstar, but for his family as well.  This has led to the 34-year-old missing PSG's last two games, with the forward now issuing a message to his fans on Instagram to reveal he has taken longer to cover than he believed he would. "When Neymar was not there this season, that did not take anything away from Mbappé’s progress, and we cannot say, even if Messi remains an extraordinary player, that Messi’s contribution to Mbappé has changed a lot thing.  "Good afternoon! As you know I had COVID and I wanted to thank you for all the messages I received and tell you that it took me longer than I thought to get well but I'm almost recovered and I'm looking forward to getting back on the field," he said, according to Ligue 1's official website. Although the family is said to be living in a big house in an exclusive area in Paris, they do not like being there.  "I've been training these days to get to 100%, there are some great challenges coming this year and hopefully very soon we can see each other again. “We have encouraged schools able to accommodate pupils with reduced social distancing of a metre to do so to make sure we can bring back as many pupils as possible.
