The inquiry may recall former defence minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula to answer the allegation that she lied in testimony to the Human Rights Commission.

He said that during the closed meeting on July 15, he told Mapisa-Nqakula that she should stop lying to the public that 800 soldiers had been deployed to the province.

He said that during Mapisa-Nqakula's testimony a week ago, he received phone calls from people wanting to know “what I had done to this minister”.“I switched on the TV and was a bit upset about what the former minister was saying about me, which was a blatant lie broadcast on TV,” he said. “I am taking responsibility for the failure of the police to protect lives and property as outlined in the constitution, regardless of whatever makes us underperform,” said Mkhwanazi.

“There is nothing that is written down in terms of our performance assessment or performance agreements that says should you fail in the performance of your duty to protect life in your policing area, you should be held accountable in this fashion. There is nothing. I invite the commission to study all our performance assessment and job descriptions in place,” he said.

I suspect a link between Eskom sabotage and July riotsLet us be truthful about what we are experiencing and feeling. Our power supply is unstable and it’s affecting our economic well-being. Water shedding is also adding to the current mood and frustration. De Ruyter’s incompetence is being defended at all costs The things you publish though. This author has said absolutely nothing, yet they are given a platform

Sitole defiant over fitness to do the job despite police inaction in July unrestThe police did not have any intelligence on the July unrest before widespread looting and riots hit Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, says national commissioner Gen Khehla Sitole. Clearly incompetent. In other democracies, the chief of police would have fallen on their sword. We already know. Intelligence and ANC government is water and oil
