The Equality Court, sitting at the Johannesburg High Court, on Tuesday reserved judgment on whether the old South African flag should be banned from being displayed.

The court sat for two days and heard a robust debate on displaying the matter, which was used by the apartheid government.

A dispute arose between the foundation and lobby group AfriForum concerning displays of the flag, which was abolished on April 27, 1994. AfriForum’s lawyer, Mark Oppenheimer, said that hateful symbols should be allowed in public spaces because they educated people on right and wrong. It supported legal action against such people, said FAK, adding that people who openly displayed the flag were frowned on and discouraged by the broader Afrikaner community.

Old SA flag profoundly humiliating and degrading, Equality Court told'What they are saying is that they yearn for the state where black people were humiliated. It is a profoundly humiliating and degrading message they are sending to black people.' And what the corrupt government is saying is they will rather waste their time on a dumb fucking stupid harmless flag and draw their own stupid conclusions instead of ignoring the flag and moving forward so all of us can continue our lives. Stop try changing the past. What they are saying is that they yearn for a country run by competent people where things work, not a corrupt party that is straling the country blind. Leave people to do their own thing and do not create a situation that will put a small group backs up

YouTubeI'm even so angry that this has not been resolved. It shouldn't even be an issue. This should have happened a long time ago. We don't need that flag here. It's no debate: it is hate speech.
