Home Affairs has issued a braille marriage certificate, the first of its kind in the country, to a visually impaired couple from Kuilsriver during a mass wedding on Robben Island on Valentines Day.February 14, 2020 Home Affairs Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi says the couple serves as an inspiration. “We have got lots of things we are celebrating today. It’s the 20th anniversary of this type of Valentine marriages taking place on Robben Island, this iconic place where tata Nelson Mandela spent a bigger part of his life – 27 years in jail and 18 years of which he spent on this island.” Min Motsoaledi hands over the first ever marriage certificate written in braille issued by Home Affairs to Cindy Mullins and Frankford Williams.
