Tshediso Mangope, adviser to the Free State co-operative governance and traditional affairs MEC, has apologised for his social media post in which he allegedly criticised members of the SA Democratic Teachers’ Union.

“We are bringing the matter to the attention of the MEC as it is alleged that Tshediso Mangope is employed in your office ... If the allegation is true, the office of the MEC is being disrespected and compromised by the person who should ensure that the office preserves the good image of the MEC, who is aFree State education MEC Tate Makgoe condemned “the derogatory and disparaging Facebook posts by a government official”.

“His posts amount to racism, sexism and blatant abuse of our teachers who have contributed immensely to the education of our children especially the historically disadvantaged learners,” Makgoe said.Makgoe said the Free State is one of the best performing education systems in the country, “thanks to these teachers whom Mangope is insulting”, adding “they have given us excellence and outstanding results even under most trying and untenable conditions”.

Mangope said the post was not intended to be malicious — which is why, when he realised it had created a “lot” of discomfort, he decided to take it down. “I am extremely apologetic to everybody, not just educators in the country, but to the many young men and women produced by the same teachers. I am a product of public schooling myself.”

Let us be honest, even if he can apologize it is not from the heart but because of the backlash, he meant what he said.

An adviser to the MEC saying such word plus pictures that insulted not only sadtu women but women in general is TOTALLY NOT FIT TO ADVISE MEC. It is better if he can be suspended without pay for three months to make him correct his ways of looking down on others.

Nah. Let him keep his insincere apology

Let SADTU deal with him now, they will deal with high cholesterol later🤣🤣🤣

'Allegedly' - come on Editor you can do better.

Say it like it is.

is it necessary to still say 'allegedly' in light of the apology?

A proper apology should be a resignation letter

If people were all connected like him they would've been in political positions like him. There's nothing special about the job he does. And it is his very own party/organization that failed the Education Dept.

Mxm if you think about it he is telling the truth, so the mandate of sadtu is just for the teachers, what about our kids, sadtu members have gotten away with a lot because they are aligned with the rulling party, to the detriment of our kids, if you don't see that ay angazi🤷

Lots of people want job and those with jobs are not taking them seriously

But as for magwenya in the swimming pool 🏊‍♂️🏊‍♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Is it the one that said he doesn’t want black atchaar eating teachers near his kids? O ithata gampe he must be fired!

Apology not accepted.. fire him with immediate effect!!! what was he thinking?
