While the former is a “broad descriptive term” for something that may have nothing to do with causation, the latter refers to a “noxious and unintended response” to the vaccine itself. She said the organisation wanted to “ensure that everyone in SA would have the opportunity to report it from the comfort of their own homes” as “monitoring vaccines is critical”.
This line of thinking is known as a logical fallacy and can be “based on superstitions from the olden days” when people lacked the knowledge base to understand that something might have a temporal association but one thing did not cause the other.
