The COVID-19 national lockdown is in full effect and it has been weeks since Eskom has implemented load-shedding. The power utility says it is experiencing a reduction in demand for electricity. It says this has provided an opportunity to carry out required short-term maintenance. eNCA speaks to Eskom CEO, Andre de Ruyter. Courtesy
JOHANNESBURG - Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter says it will take a lot longer to fix the damage done by 10 years of capture and corruption.Since President Cyril Ramaphosa's national lockdown announcement, the country has not experienced any load-shedding. Eskom says it is using this time of decreased electricity demand, due to the lockdown, to perform critical short-term maintenance."We think we will be able to emerge from this lockdown period with a fleet in which we have better reliability and predictability.
Having said that, we still have a lot of work to do to catch up with 10 years of neglect that needs to be repaired", he said. Eskom has said it does not expect to implement load-shedding for the duration of the national lockdown.
basically he is out of ideas bcoz he can see that money is going to IPPs not maintenance and there is nothing he can do bcoz of Pravin. I give him 6 months
Yeah well, those responsible are not behind bars yet, so the government isn't serious about fixing that corruption problem.
Why is it that everyone agrees of the mass corruption in our country, but no one does anything about it. Talk is cheap, We want results, not excuses..
What corruption? koko_matshela was there any corruption at Eskom ?
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Look to the price of the Rand. South Africa is getting collective punishment for not incarcerating criminals. Simple, isn't it?
Who cares? SA is Zimbabwe in 3 months. Rand will be at R30/$1 COVID19 corruption ANC fitch
Get rid of our paralysed NDPP. Someone with man/women BALLS
Othomile
It’s got a name this legacy of corruption; Label it and park it. ZUMA. Use it. It’s called ZUMA.
And not one of the corrupt are in prison!!! Disgraceful!! CyrilRamaphosa NPA
Ramaphosa who was tasked with dealing with Eskom must answer
Cannot be true. Ask Ace and the MYANC
Yet no arrests have been made. The whole country seems to know if this corruption except for the authorities
Problem is that the benefitioners of Eskom_SA corruption are still in key positions and the Government!
Are you surprised,
ANC and Zuma esp have much to take their graves with them. Incompetent, stupid thieving bottom feeders, and anyone who voted for them in complicit in this.
We all know, with that kinda loot, Eskom can’t be properly fixed for at least the next 10+ years.
Has anyone been arrested or sentenced yet?
The COO that stole from Eskom?
Yes we know and the culprits are still walking around.
ermbates Then name and shame them every time it's load shedding then you name it after all the crooks, eg hurricane Katrina, loadshedding Zuma, load shedding etc you have to make the Anc crooks uncomfortable
The 1st time that someone has mentioned the Legacy of corruption and not the Legacy of Apartheid.
Mara🤷🏾♂️ Didn't we hire this guy to sort out Eskom's corruption... This one must just do his job and stop telling us things we know.
legacy of MYANC...so sad that as a country we had to come to this! Corruption has to STOP but I doubt very much if ANC has the willingness & the boldness to stop corruption, it will not happen under their watch! New alternatives are emerging, it is time to bring dignity 2 SA!
This must just do his job and come up with solutions
De ruyter smart one
Always wanna blame others. Pathetic
Explain to us why they do not simply fire the whole lot of them?
Why don’t yourl use this time for maintenance
Calling it as it is
Years of stealing from the public. The legacy of Africa.
Nothing new
South Africa is struggling with legacy of apartheid, Apartheid is struggling with legacy of colonialism
