Reports suggest that employees will go back to work, and all working equipment and tools of trade will be released.

The municipality confirmed that the parties had agreed that a disciplinary process would immediately ensue, and perpetrators brought to book.

Addressing the media in Durban on Friday, KZN Premier Willies Mchunu said the illegal municipal workers’ strike caused R3.5m in damage. “The demand of the union regarding certain positions in the city has been referred to the bargaining council for negotiation,” he said. Commenting on the strike, Ward 31 councillor Chris Pappas said that after speaking to workers on the ground last week, he felt the strike had merit, as workers felt it unfair that MK veterans, who were politically aligned with the municipality, should get increases, when they hadn’t. He, however, couldn’t condone the destruction and sabotage.

Keep voting ANC.... Really is the only concern international guests? Why hasn’t the City attended and responded to grievances lodged in 2018, shouldn’t that be of major concern to the Premier. Why didn’t they provide answers and let matters get this out of hand thats of great concern. Taste your own medicine. The mkva that you upgraded their salaries at the expense of other workers should fix the problem.
