Durban - CHRISTIAN, Muslim and Hindu groups are seeking to put systems and structures in place to de-escalate tensions that may arise between the different religious groups.

The groups said there was a need to discuss conciliatory processes and social cohesion within their respective communities. Religious groups would undertake to educate communities to also consider the great endeavours of social and religious cohesion of the past and present. He encouraged all faiths to consistently work towards a sense of community “where we have mutual respect for each other”.

“These Indians, our forefathers, established a strong foundation based on mutual respect, integrity, honour and a deep sense of communal ethos built around strong family values. The neighbour was family despite their religion.”“Some reasons for the decline of moral values may be the monetisation of cultures, the collapse of family values, and the influence of modern technology and media.
