A year has come and gone since South Africa went into lockdown in March 2020, yet the online licence renewal system has not changed at all, writes MrsSpeedQueen | Wheels24

readers once again complain about not getting a slot for the last couple of months. There are no slots available, and no one has the time to physically sit and hit refresh the entire day to try and get a slot that might just randomly become available - this, according to some readers, seems to be the only way of getting a booking.

Those who need to renew their driving licence cards need to remember that you would also need a temporary licence in the meantime. Technically, this does not make sense if you're still within the allocated amnesty period before 31 August because driving with a lockdown expired licence means you should be exempt from having to fork out more money for a temporary one.

MrsSpeedQueen Wheels24 What must happen now.... I never find any open slots in the DLTCs either in Johannesburg or Pretoria. My temp license that I received last November is expiring... now I have to apply for it again. Waste of money and time
