[ANALYSIS] CR17: Ramaphosa's argument on donations

Ramaphosa says he didn't personally organise and solicit donations for the CR17 campaign.

That job was left to Bejani Chauke, who oversaw operations and met with ANC, Cosatu and SACP leaders.A full team led by founding NUM president James Motlatsi was tasked with raising funds.Business Unity SA believes the divisions within the ANC and the court battle between Ramaphosa and Mkhwebane are sending the wrong signals.

“There's all sorts of signs that business confidence is actually being negatively impacted upon by what is currently happening. The message we as BUSA have is Mr. President and the governing party, we are ready to do what we can, provided you rise above the political noise,” said Business Unity SA's interim CEO, Cas Coovadia. The ANC is expected to discuss campaign financing at the next meeting of its NEC.
