The City of Tshwane and Rand Water have committed to increasing water supply in the city amid increased demand.

In a joint statement, the entities attributed the need for water supply to high temperatures. They said both water supply systems were under pressure as a result.

The entities met with Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu on Sunday to discuss solutions to water shortages in the city after the Tshwane municipality accused Rand Water of However, the bulk water supplier denied this, blaming the city for exceeding its water target and failing to impose restrictions.On Sunday, the parties resolved to increase the water supply in key reservoirs, which came into effect on Tuesday.

"These measures include controlling outlet flows from key holding reservoirs and moving water from healthier systems to assist areas where the high consumption had depleted the system and reservoirs. The reservoirs affected last night are Klipfontein, Brakfontein, Hartebeeshoek and Bronberg," the entities said in a statement.
