What looked like a promising campaign for Kaizer Chiefs is starting to get their fans worried in their 50th anniversary season. As things stand, Amakhosi are now left with the Absa Premiership title to fight for after their elimination from the Nedbank Cup

What looked like a promising campaign for Kaizer Chiefs is starting to get their fans worried in their 50th anniversary season.

There is a saying that revenge is a dish best served cold and Chiefs tasted this after their defeat on penalties in the Last 16 of the Ke Yona tournament by Highlands Park in Tembisa yesterday. New signing Musa Nyatama converted the winning spot kick to help his side advance to the quarterfinal 5-4 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 after extra time.It is going to be a nerve-racking remaining 10 games for Amakhosi in the league as their gap on the Absa Premiership log table has been reduced to four points by defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Red-hot Namibian goal poacher Peter Shalulile finished off Luckyboy Mokoena’s inviting free kick 10 minutes after the re-start to send the home team’s fans into wild celebrations. Amakhosi completed the double over the Lions of the North in the league in their first clash, which was a five-goal thriller.

The one-time Bafana Bafana shot stopper received the biggest cheer on the day when his name was read out by the stadium announcer before kick-off.
