Chiefs camp ravaged by Covid-19, requests postponement of PSL games

Covid-19 has ravaged the Kaizer Chiefs camp, with as many as 31 personnel reported to have been sidelined and in quarantine, and the club’s headquarters in Naturena temporarily closed.

This has prompted the club to appeal to the PSL to postpone five of their DStv matches scheduled for this month, starting with Saturday’s game against Cape Town City “to avoid risk of infection and further spread of the virus and allow those affected to recover and complete their quarantine period before they can play against other teams”.The league was yet to respond to Chiefs’ request.

The club added that it had instituted stricter Covid-19 management protocols following several positive coronavirus cases affecting the team and general personnel.
