Police Minister Bheki Cele has cautioned South Africans that it was their behaviour in the coming days that would determine whether the lockdown to stop the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus would continue or not.

Addressing the media and the general public gathered in Secunda, Mpumalanga, on Tuesday morning, Cele cautioned South Africans that it was their behaviour in the coming days that would determine whether the lockdown to stop the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus would continue or not.

He added that whatever decision was taken, its main purpose would be to “protect the lives of the country’s citizens”. “I passed two road blocks [on my way here] which tells us that it’s going to be difficult for people to break the law in this area,” he said.

Since rape is down due to police visibility I will think the visibility part must continue and you mustn't turnaround and say police doesn't have resources. Yes this lockdown is for a good cause and so does preventing crime. Hope you note that.

President said they will do scientific assessment before taking a decision on extention of lockdown.

CovidAfrica 🤔 Hallo, isn't it our President that makes the decision?

PoliceMinisterCele must not forget to arrest stellandabeni after meeting with President Ramaphosa

Surely people cannot expect the lockdown to be uplifted after the 21 days. It must be extended until there is a sharp decrease in reported new cases. Uplifting it now while new cases are on the increase will be disasterous. Covid19SA CoronavirusInSouthAfrica COVID19

Is that not for the health department and the presidency to decide not the police department

No minister don't ever extend this yooh

Our black people are not complying with lockdown regulations

Just give us one open day before extension .. I need to drive to Durban, to collect my books just one day.. Gaan and treg..

Our freedom is being compared to a lollipop given to a child who behaves again. There are singular areas in our country not obeying the law. Yes 'for our safety' But jho all of SA is punished because of singular rebels?! Ai nee man GenBheki_Cele AreYouReadyToDivorceAlcohol

People behave in that manner because your'll are poor examples to them!

Don't you think Mr Minister if your fellow ministers ( Ndabeni-Abrahams) don't follow the lockdown rules how do you expect the South Africans to follow these rules.

When it comes to behaviour - how comes that he is still a minister?

Cele thinks his our President mxm

This man should only be allowed to speak once he has overseen the arrest of Stellarated It makes a mockery of the lockdown

Including Stella Ndaweni behaviour

I love this man as his just plane and never care what wrong people think of him. I see why they bring him back to serve the public.

Just have a look here via Soweto street no lockdown people do as they please

That's so true, if only people do understand that this is not just a holiday, it is for our own lives, staying at home was the safest way to protect oneself and doing as we told .

No Bheki. The behaviour of people up until now has already determined whether or not we extend the lockdown.

Did someone tell him that the numbers will go up as tests are done? Please ask him to make sure people who are found to be positive, be isolated by government so that we can continue business.

If you extend then please allow us time to go buy cigarettes and booze

Cele says lockdown will only end early if we behaveAlthough sympathetic with citizens wanting to resume normal life as soon as possible, the minister says there is 'no need to rush' while people are still sick and dying of Covid-19. It’s not up to him! Good can he talk to his friends. We are all being as good as gold but have seen some dreadful footage of humans behaving badly. P.S. perhaps it's time to have different rules for different provinces and people? genbheki_cele is power tripping, he has no respect for us he forgets who pays his salary.

Jesus, now I know why he wears a hat 😂 Stop giving this man airtime!! He is not the health minister and he’s not the president. He has no right to dole out health advice.
