CAPE TOWN - The BRICS Sherpas say they believe they have come up with a suitable set of standards and criteria for admitting new members to the formation of developing nations, which currently comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
South Africa will host the BRICS summit in Johannesburg next month, where expansion of the bloc is set to feature prominently.South Africa was invited to join 10 years later, making it a closely-knit group of five for more than a decade. South Africa’s BRICS Sherpa, Anil Sooklal, says he believes they have now refined a process to consider applications from more than a dozen countries.
