Bafana Bafana Coach Hugo Broos Makes Turnaround In Mothobi Mvala Decision

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos explained his decision to include Mothobi Mvala in his final squad to face Guinea and France, despite the player not initially selected in the preliminary side.

Fresh from a stunning performance in a 1-0 victory over Egyptian giants Al Ahly over the weekend, Mvala has been given a shot at impressing against world champions France on March 29, as well as Guinea four days before that. The player, though, had not been included in the preliminary side, but Broos felt that the team needed some muscle in the middle of the park and decided to select the former Highlands Park hardman. "I think we missed Mvala in that game . He is the one who is very aggressive. We missed him a little bit and we saw in some other games that our midfield was a little bit light. So, when I see the guys of Orlando Pirates playing, there is power. When I see the midfield of Sundowns, there's power. So we were looking a little bit for that," Broos said after announcing his squad in Auckland Park on Monday afternoon.
