JOHANNESBURG - Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa confirmed he had received the open letter addressed to him from veteran actress Vatiswa Ndara. Ndara took to Twitter on Monday and accused local production houses, particularly Ferguson Films, of exploiting actors and poor working conditions.
She continued by sharing the details of a contract offered to her by Ferguson Films for the third season of the hard-hitting drama series"iGazi." “...we would like to offer Vatiswa a global contract for 'iGazi' for R110k for the duration of 5 weeks. No limit to calls, first call exclusive to us. She will also need to allocate a day a wardrobe fitting and make up tests... but otherwise we only have her during the five shooting week.”However, many social media users said the response was not enough and urged the minister to take action and to launch an investigation into the matter.
He acknowledged, didn't respond. Do you know what's a response?
This headline is misleading! The Minister merely acknowledged receipt of the letter. When he eventually responds to the letter what will your headline say?🤔 ClickBait
I totally disagree with the fact that Vatiswa went to Min of condolences to deal with Ferguson prod! If we still can't self-regulate from within our industry then it's even worse if gov is expected to intervene! I call on gov to stay out!
Uthini minister yhoo bekudala ngoko siyathemba ba uzakuza nesisombululo qwaba
This issue must be addressed we tired of our people being exploited
I wonder if he would really do something about it
Uthini uMinister of Condolences?
