Anne Hathaway reveals what she was told at 16 after bagging her first role in Hollywood

, the 36-year-old actress revealed she was subtly told to lose weight after bagging her first Hollywood role.

"At 16 years old, it was 'Congratulations, you have the part. I’m not saying you need to lose weight. I’m just saying don’t gain weight.' Which of course means you need to lose weight," Anne said.with husband Adam Shulman, went on to say that being thin is still an expectation, even though Hollywood is slowly transitioning.

"All the time. And in the ways where it’s overt and people say things to you, and then there’s kind of micro ones [too]."
