I was going through my bookshelves this week, as some of us feel forced to do when we have been under lockdown for so long that everyday household objects start to take on a dangerous aspect.
In an attempt to stave off suffocation, I was trying to winnow out unwanted books to make space for a few more wanted volumes. The de-densification of bookshelves is a constant and losing battle in our house. Piles that begin on the floor and grow towards the ceiling tower ever higher and threaten to engulf us should the cats accidentally dislodge a bottom volume...A subscription gives you full digital access to all Times Select content.
