Alleged riots instigator Bonginkosi Khanyile was granted bail by the Durban magistrate's court on Tuesday.Bonginkosi “Education” Khanyile was released on R5,000 bail with strict conditions by the Durban magistrate’s court on Tuesday.
In one of the videos, Khanyile is allegedly seen addressing a group of people at a taxi rank. He is heard encouraging the group that “those who are burning tyres and blocking the roads must continue to do so until [former president Jacob] Zuma is released”. Khanyile will also have to suspend his Twitter account with more than 21,000 followers for the duration of the case and ensure he is able to attend every court appearance until it is finalised.
“Our brother is a free man. We have said it before: he is innocent and has never done anything wrong. The state has been proved wrong today.
So the case is no longer about instigating an insurrection but it's about the right to support an individual of your choice. Now I understand why they say, as sober as a judge not as sober as a magistrate.
