Award-winning actress Regina King’s only child – Ian Alexander Jr has died by suicide.
The star confirmed the news of his passing this morning in a statement.

IAN ALEXANDER JR DIES
Regina King’s only child – Ian Alexander Jr has passed away by suicide days after celebrating his 26th birthday.
The star shared him with the record producer and ex-husband Ian Alexander Snr.
King confirmed his passing in a statement sent to People Magazine:
“Our family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of Ian,” King says in a statement sent to PEOPLE.
“He is such a bright light who cared so deeply about the happiness of others.”
“Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time.”
“Thank you.”
Ian was an artist and DJ who posted on Instagram just three days ago about an upcoming event at Bardot this month.

REGINA KING’S RELATIONSHIP WITH HER SON
Regina King divorced her husband Ian Alexander Snr in 2007 after nine years of marriage.
King stated in several interviews that her son was her biggest source of pride and admitted that being a single mother after the divorce was challenging.
“You don’t know what unconditional love is.”
“You may say you do, but if you don’t have a child, you don’t know what that is.”
“When you experience it, it’s the most fulfilling [thing] ever.”
The 50-year-old actress and her 26-year-old son also had matching tattoos, which read “unconditional love” in Aramaic.
Her tattoo was on her arm and his was on his shoulder.
Ian often accompanied his mom to red carpets even and told E! News in 2019:
“She’s just a super mom.”
“She doesn’t really let bad workdays or anything come back and ruin the time that we have.”
“It’s really awesome to have a mother who I can enjoy spending time with.”
