Lewandowski beats Salah and Messi to The Best FIFA Men’s Player award!

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has beaten Mohamed Salah and Lionel Messi to the The Best FIFA Men’s Player award for 2021.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has beaten Mohamed Salah and Lionel Messi to the The Best FIFA Men’s Player award for 2021.

Lewandowski was a strong favourite for the award having won the FIFA Club World Cup with Bayern in 2021.

Interestingly, the 33-year-old marksman was also vital in helping Bayern lift the Bundesliga title in the same year.

Furthermore, Lewandowski played a huge role during his nation’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers, netting eight goals in eight games for Poland.

Salah and Messi also had a good 2021 for Liverpool and Barcelona/PSG respectively but they couldn’t get enough votes to beat Lewandowski to the award.

WHO IS IN THE FIFPRO MEN’S WORLD XI?

The FIFPRO Men’s World XI for 2021 was also announced, and surprisingly, it has four attackers with Lewandowski leading the from the front while there was no space for Salah despite making the top three.

There was also space for Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and Borussia Dortmund goal-machine Erling Haaland.

UEFA Champions League winners with Chelsea N’Golo Kante and Jorginho also made the cut while goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was shockingly overlooked.

This despite Mendy being named The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper on the night, and his supposed place in the FIFPRO World XI was taken by Gianluigi Donnarumma of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
