BET's annual Soul Train music awards is almost upon us.
This year the event celebrates its 50th anniversary, recognising the best in soul music, hip hop and R&B.
For the first time ever, the Soul Train Awards will be taped at the iconic Apollo Theatre in New York.
"The Apollo has long been a centre of Black cultural and creative innovation for Harlem, the city of New York, and the world. It has provided a platform for Black artists at all stages of their careers, and a gathering place for audiences to express themselves freely," Apollo executive producer Kamilah Forbes said in a statement shared by BET.
"The Apollo is thrilled to partner with BET to host the Soul Train Awards, bringing together three iconic brands that represent Black culture and excellence under one roof. This is an occasion to celebrate, and we look forward to the incredible performances that will light up our stage during the Soul Train Awards," she continued.
This year, Martin stars Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold return as hosts of the ceremony for the fourth time.
The pair will also help produce the show.
"Producing and hosting the Soul Train Awards for the last three years with my childhood friend has truly been one of the high points of my life," Tisha said in a statement shared by Entertainment Tonight. The star added that she was honoured to be filming the show at the Apollo.
"Returning to my hometown where it all began for us as young girls and hosting the iconic Soul Train Awards at the World Famous Apollo is truly a childhood dream come true," said Tichina.
The 2021 Soul Train Awards will take place on 28 November.
