  • Alex Rodriguez was seen in Miami this week after news of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's relationship broke.
  • "Go Yankees," he reportedly said when asked about their new relationship - a pointed response to Ben Affleck.
  • Sources close to the situation say the former baseball player is "upset" by the news. "He truly thought they would be able to make it work and reconnect."

Sources say Alex Rodriguez, who split from Jennifer Lopez a month ago after four years together, is "very shocked" by his ex's new relationship with Ben Affleck.

In case you missed it, famous exes JLo and Ben Affleck recently rekindled their romance after a week-long getaway. The couple first dated in 2002, got engaged, but split before they could say 'I do' in early 2004.

A-Rod was spotted for the first time since the news broke when he and an assistant greeted Stevie Mackey, JLo's longtime voice coach and close friend, in Miami, Page Six reports. According to the publication, when asked about his ex's new relationship, he simply responded: "Go Yankees."

People reports, however, this may have been a pointed response to Ben Affleck — a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan, the NY Yankees rivals.

Ben, the publication says, is such a big fan, he even refused to wear a Yankees hat in a scene in his film Gone Girl.

"A-Rod is shocked that JLo has moved on," an insider tells E! News. "He truly thought they would be able to make it work and reconnect. He has been reaching out to JLo trying to meet with her, and she has been very short with him."

"Saddened" by the news, the source says the former professional baseball player has reached out to let his ex know "he's upset" too. "She's not interested in rekindling anything with A-Rod and is done," they add.
