"He would thank God; he would thank his parents. He would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices," said Taylor Simone Ledward while accepting an award on behalf of her late husband, Chadwick Boseman.
Chadwick, who died in August last year after a private battle with colon cancer, won the Best Actor in a motion picture drama award at the 78th annual Golden Globes for his role in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.
His wife Taylor Simone gave an emotional acceptance speech in which she thanked his co-stars, the director George C. Wolfe and producer Denzel Washington.
"He would say something beautiful, something inspiring, something that would amplify that little voice inside of all of us that tells you; you can. That tells you to keep going, that calls you back to what you are meant to be doing at this moment in history," she said while holding back tears.
"I don't have his words, but we have to take all the moments to celebrate those we love."
She ended the speech by thanking the Hollywood Foreign Press.
