A recent judgment from the Western Cape High Court against the Public Protector should provide hope that the President's commitment to the rule of law and accountable government may still be vindicated, writes Serjeant at the Bar.
The President must be commended for his emphasis in his speech to Parliament on the importance of the rule of law and the principle of accountability. But his commitment, regrettably, does not extend to an enthusiastic embrace by those who should be accountable to the law.
