Capricorn District Municipality executive mayor John Mpe, who lives in Mamatsha village near Moria outside Polokwane, decided to share his water with 250 households on Monday. This was after the Molapo Dam, which supplies the village, dried out just as communities needed water more than before for hygienic purposes due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.
The village is reticulated but in drier seasons when the taps run dry, the villagers have to rely on water trucks that deliver once or twice a week.
