WATCH | Truck carrying cement crashes into 17 cars, several people injured

A truck driver was arrested after the truck he was driving crashed into 17 cars and a wall in Johannesburg on Tuesday. 

The truck was carrying bags of cement. 

A video, which went viral on social media, shows cement covering the streets.

Dust fills the air, causing low visibility for drivers and pedestrians. 

According to the police, the driver said he lost control of the vehicle because his brakes had failed. 

"At least seven people were injured, including a nine-year-old boy. They were all taken to various hospitals," Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson Wayne Minnaar told News24.

The driver was charged with reckless and negligent driving.
