'Political ads can be an important part of voice, especially for local candidates, up and coming challengers and advocacy groups that the media might not otherwise cover,' Zuckerberg said.

Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday said he has considered banning political ads from Facebook but chose not to.

"Political ads can be an important part of voice, especially for local candidates, up and coming challengers and advocacy groups that the media might not otherwise cover," Zuckerberg said. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg walks to meetings for technology regulations and social media issues in Washington on September 19, 2019.Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday said he has considered banning political ads from"Given the sensitivity around political ads, I've considered whether we should stop allowing them altogether," Zuckerberg said in a speech delivered at Georgetown University.

One problem with banning political ads is that it is not clear where Facebook would have to draw the line, Zuckerberg said. "There are many more ads about issues than there ads about elections. Do we ban ads about healthcare, immigration or women's empowerment?" he said.

Why? Why would this role model stoop to such low levels in his life?

Trashhhhhh boycottfacebook

He's in Russia's pocket too

Remember this when they are able to legally roll out their own crypto currency. btc

nah

Should rename Facebook to just fake news. Facebook is shit

Zuckerberg cannot separate business from politics. This is a bad choice.

Your not relevant

Should have- all of them

Bcoz politic put some interest to talk to in facebook. Lol

Riiiiight. Like he was really going to cut out that revenue stream. 🙄

Nobody’s asking zuckerberg to ban political ads. Just completely, patently, and provably false political ads.

Cost you money?

Banning political adds would be against free speech. Also since most political adds stretch the truth it’s up to the reader to decide whether to believe it or not. A example is Trumps tweets which are 90% lies. Who fact checks the?

It was the right call.

Jackass

Well, yeah: dollars

He still planning on running for Mayor of the 2nd level in hell?

Hey its EZ money. Id do the same thing

No reason to. Let the Free Speech Fly! The Russia hoax was a fraud and destroyed the medias credibility, not Facebooks!

I wish he would

Those drama politicians and the problem+ audience...... Banning might be an idea......

THE END OF FACEBOOK 2020

He should allow people to discuss the full extent of their democracy on facebook as well without fearing a ban.

TO MUCH RUSSIAN MONEY.

“Then Trump told me to allow lies for his new ads, and I rolled over and said okay!”

Lets take some personal responsibility on this. The problem isn't the political ads on the platform. The problem is that we're spending too much time on the platform and too lazy to research our own conclusions on the issues that should matter most to us.

Clearly a trump supporter!!

He's being misquoted, he actually said: 'I thought about getting an adult haircut, but decided not to.'

Because he makes money 💰 from it

Yet he banned crypto ads then announced he will be making his own crypto... Hypocrite

Thanks zuck
