Zach Parise mulling his Islanders and NHL future

As Parise sat with his hands folded and vacantly stared forward, Palmieri walked over, gave him a hug and touched his head to his teammate’s.It has been no secret this could be Parise’s last season.He has been in the NHL for 18 seasons and, at this point, is playing for the love of the game.

But exactly where he will be playing is a question that will be asked at the Islanders’ breakup day, and there may not be an answer until later in the summer. Zach Parise hits the goal post on a shot during the Islanders’ season-ending Game 6 loss to the Hurricanes.“I did some helping out with them in the summer, just the team that [his older son] plays on,” Parise told The Post early in the season. “I could 100 percent see myself coaching them when I’m done. It’s fun and I like being around it and seeing them out there for sure.”
