Some home and garden stores have been mobbed as people look to fill time with home projects. At least one chain is actively encouraging that with big sales. One worker tells WFAE it feels like Lowe's is putting profits ahead of employee safety.

If you’ve been practicing social distancing or have been working from home, you may be feeling a bit restless. Many of us are looking outside at our yards and thinking now might be the perfect time to start a home improvement project.

"It’s impossible to maintain the social distancing guidelines when there’s just crowds and crowds of people in here at all times," he said. Francis says there are no thermometers for temperature checks and there’s no crowd control at Lowe’s. "And to us in the store, we feel like we are losing our minds when we hear it because it’s impossible to maintain this social distancing that’s required when there are these massive crowds," he said.

WFAE CBCNews CTVNews globalnews this is happening exactly the same in Canada Some attention needs to be drawn to this. They are flying under the radar putting people at risk every day by being outright irresponsible.

WFAE They are. They fired me within days of me complaining about not having hand sanitizer or them doing anything to prevent spread. The management mocked me for being upset that a customer coughed ON my face, spraying me w/ moisture, in an active high spread community.

WFAE That would allow is to run fewer hours/ fewer employees at a time. Give us PPE and we can fulfill online orders and bring to curb. Electrical, Appliances, Plumbing - we can focus on these depts. NOT soil, mulch, paint, blinds, patio furniture, grills.

WFAE Anything you read from Corporate are just PR bs. The steps taken, the ability to take time off etc. We are all terrified, and filled with anxiety...scared that we will get sick, or make our families sick. We need real protection like limiting to ESSENTIAL ITEMS only with curbside

WFAE Thank you for giving us a voice. We have been begging for help for almost 3 weeks now and nobody cared about us. We have 6 employees dead from COVID19 THAT WE KNOW OF. Many more infected and no MEANINGFUL safety protocols in place.

WFAE Not all Lowes. One in Chamblee Geprgia has taken serious steps to prevent grouping people together.

WFAE I had to make my own mask because Lowe's isn't providing any protective equipment for it's employees. cc: gpbnews

WFAE It is criminal what they are getting away w/. Over 300,000 employees. Many sick. 1 we know of dead. Promoting in store only sale. Breeding ground. Corporate peeps off. PeeOns begging to follow CDCgov g/lines. Record breaking sales. Not essentials boycottlowes cries ignored

WFAE greedy bastards!! theydontcareabouttheirfrontline

WFAE Aren’t they owned by trump supporters?

WFAE Home Depot maintains a hold-out line, allowing only 150 customers in the store at any given time. The company has cancelled its annual Spring blockbuster sales event. Seeing lines does NOT mean the store is packed. Customers are merely staggered. One goes out one goes in.

WFAE Lowes in Abingdon,Virginia today.

WFAE This picture was taken at your Abingdon, Va store today. No SocialDistancing Packed with people buying Essentials paint, mulch, garden stuff.

WFAE MarvinREllison LowesMedia Hey Marvin... Your greed is showing. God Bless. BloodOnYourHands LowesLies Covid_19 CorporateGreed

WFAE We def had opposite reaction. Not putting planters out this year or anything that would take us to the store. Had to make one emergency run when main faucet broke and big store not crowded on a Saturday. Few people in the line to get in.

WFAE Every wave has a ripple

WFAE Lowes in my town has a packed parking lot. I just don't get it.

WFAE I went to four stores today and Home Depot was the only one with a line. I skipped it.

WFAE My sister works for Lowe’s and they don’t have any PPE at the store where she works. It is irresponsible and I hope these companies get sued by the survivors.

WFAE In Ontario, Canada, all our box stores are CLOSED to shoppers. you can order online, then pick-up curbside. That's it. We are taking this seriously! I am VERY proud to be Canadian! proudtobeCanadian WorstPresidentInHistory COVID19

WFAE Just like the rest of corporate America.

WFAE This is a so sad for small businesses that are forced to shutter, but big box stores are able to monopolize.
