Yellowjackets star Jasmin Savoy Brown thinks that her character Taissa's relationship with Van is based on guilt. 'It’s also fear of losing her, and I don’t think Taissa is mature enough emotionally to be able to say that.'

Jasmin Savoy Brown thinks her Yellowjackets character's relationship with Van is based on guilt. Yellowjackets follows members of a high school soccer team who, after suffering a plane crash in the wilderness, resort to tribalism and cannibalism in order to survive. The show chronicles both the group's time lost in the wild and the modern-day story of four of the survivors.

But despite Yellowjackets' penchant for the macabre, the show does have its moments of hope, as several survivors form relationships as their time in the wilderness drags on. One such couple is Taissa and Van, who, although together before the crash, are thrust into a much more intense relationship during the group's extended isolation. Their relationship, unfortunately, takes a grim turn when Van is mauled by a group of wolves while out searching for help.

“I think it’s already in Taissa’s nature to ignore the supernatural and to ignore Lottie’s [Courtney Eaton] visions, but there is that scene in episode 10 where Van comes up to the attic and basically tells Taissa, ‘I need you to believe this with me.’ And it’s guilt. It’s also fear of losing her, and I don’t think Taissa is mature enough emotionally to be able to say that. So instead, she just goes along with Van even though she hates it. So yes, I would say that it’s guilt.

While a supernatural element hasn't been confirmed in the show, there have been strange occurrences that have proven difficult to explain. As the situation becomes bleaker and bleaker, several survivors have started looking toward Lottie for the path forward, as insatiable hunger starts to splinter the already fractured group. Van, in particular, is drawn to Lottie's supposed occult connections, further testing her and Taissa's relationship.

Yellowjackets has become something of a surprise hit for network Showtime, and season 1 only scratched the surface of where the show could go. Despite teasing the terrifying events to come at the start and end of the season, the series is yet to show the survivors disclosing their darkest secrets. With season 1 wrapping up with more questions than answers, Yellowjackets season 2 has already been confirmed to continue its disturbing adventure in 2022. .
