A Washington State Patrol (WSP) trooper was shot in the leg while making a traffic stop in Kent Friday evening.

Sat, February 17th 2024 at 12:38 AMWashington State Patrol officials at the scene of a trooper involved shooting that occurred in Kent on the evening of Feb. 16, 2024. A Washington State Patrol trooper was shot in the leg while making a traffic stop in Kent Friday evening.

WSP said a trooper was attempting to make a traffic stop near the Driftwood apartments in Kent when the vehicle attempted to escape. State patrol said the suspect then fled on foot and also fired a shot, which hit the trooper in the leg. Officials said the trooper was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.This story will be updated when more information is available.
