Assets controlled by model portfolios, or preset investment templates, hit another high as financial advisers increasingly use them to build investor portfolios

Model portfolios controlled $4.9 trillion of money in U.S. mutual funds and ETFs in September, up from $3.8 trillion a year ago, according to data firm Broadridge Financial Solutions .
