The 26-year-old woman, whom authorities identified as Nichole A. Tillman of Melbourne, Florida, was swimming on Saturday afternoon at Key Lake Wilderness Park in Cocoa, on the state's eastern coast, when she was attacked suddenly by an 8-foot-6-inch long gator.
Rescuers who rushed to help Tillman put her on an all-terrain vehicle and drove her a couple of miles out of the woods to a nearby road, where she was loaded into a medical helicopter and flown to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, officials said. Officials did not release information on the extent of her injuries, only calling them"significant." The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said only that they were"non-life threatening."
"I mean, it's scary," Nygard said."Just thankful a little kid wasn't in the lake at the time, because more or less the gator probably would've gotten the kid.""Several people grabbed towels and shirts and wrapped her side and leg and then they rushed her up here to the [road]," he said."Not very often," Uzel said."As far as alligator bites, I think this was the second in 35 years.

Can we just round them all up and release at Mar-A-Lago? Plenty of reptiles there already and these gators are legal citizens.
Anybody and everybody who has ever lived in Florida knows that you cannot 'go for a swim' in ANY fresh body of water there. Not any. Not ever.
While I hope & will pray for her, what was she thinking? I only visit Florida and know not to swim in lakes, ponds or any water holes in Florida or any other place where an alligator or crocodile inhabits.
I lived in New Orleans and also visited Florida often, and I would not swim other than a swimming pool. Florida is one big swamp and everybody of water may have alligators or cocodriles. Nope
It's MAY....what the hell are you doing in fresh water? Springs maybe....too cold for aligators most times. But a river or lake...in FLORIDA...in MAY? Mating season is no joke...they will attack just to prove dominance right now! Had to be a transplant...no native is that dumb!
