Woman beaten to death with pipe at Pa. office building, police say

Police arrested a man after the deadly attack Wednesday afternoon, a department spokeswoman said.

Published: Jan. 20, 2022, 6:25 a.m.ByA 31-year-old New Jersey woman was beaten to death with a pipe inside a Philadelphia office building Wednesday and a man was arrested at the scene, police said.The woman was attacked shortly after 2 p.m. aton the 300 block of Chestnut Street in the city’s Old City section, according to Philadelphia police. She was rushed to a hospital with severe head injuries and died around 3:15 p.m.

A man was arrested and officers recovered the weapon, a police spokeswoman confirmed.The woman knew the assailant and they had previous disputes, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Smalltold reporters. A motive, however, remained unclear.Police have not released the name of the woman or more information about the man who was arrested.
